I FEEL it would be sacrilege to remove Dunscar War Memorial to another area.
It is a potent reminder of those who sacrificed their lives in the First and Second Word Wars - an insult to them and their families. It is a familiar sight, a landmark very useful for directions, and very importantly part of history of the area. It is also within the green belt.
As far as the building of more houses in the area, has Bromley Cross not given up enough of its green area, to say nothing of the extra traffic chaos it would cause? Eagley Way has only recently been closed to traffic, causing immense traffic chaos at the Memorial.
The local bus routes are completely inadequate, and the bus stops needed would only add to the consequent congestion.
Bolton and Bromley Cross are fast becoming a vast built-up area, and as such will lose their reputation, which I have found in over 50 years of residency. We will also lose the surprise and amazement from visitors from the south who just expect "clogs and shawls" and end up saying "I never believed that Bolton could be so beautiful."
