PEOPLE are being urged to use water wisely as demand across the North-west because expected to soar this week as families make the most of the summer weather.
United Utilities says up to an extra 200 million litres a day could be used during the sunniest days.
Average reservoir levels are around 76 per cent full, about the same as this time last year.
And although there is enough water, surges in demand can reduce water pressure at the tap.
Customer service director Gary Dixon urged customers to use water wisely.
"There are simple ways to use water wisely such as turning off dripping taps, running washing machines on full and using a watering can instead of a sprinkler in the garden," he said.
