FIRE chiefs have issued a warning against smoking in bed after a cigarette set a bed on fire in Halliwell.
A man accidentally dropped a cigarette on to his bed at a flat in Pentland Terrace, Halliwell, at 7.30pm on Sunday.
The cigarette started to smoulder, so the man fled outside, calling out the fire brigade.
Bolton Central Sub Officer David Fraser-Jones said: "Thisis what happens is people fall asleep and then drop a cigarette and they are unaware of what is happening."
