A MAN has appeared before magistrates accused of burgling the home of former England and Blackpool soccer captain Jimmy Armfield.
Peter McAuley, of Jamestown Road, Loch Lomond, is charged with burgling the former Bolton Wanderers manager's Blackpool home last weekend.
A credit card and valuable jewellery were allegedly stolen but football memorabilia was left untouched.
Mr McAuley was remanded in custody by Blackpool magistrates and is due before Preston Crown Court on 6 September.
He is also accused of using the credit card seven times to obtain property and alcohol.
Mr Armfield, who lives in Blackpool's South Shore, has been a town resident since joining Blackpool Football Club in 1952.
