WITH reference to the letter of Tony Doyle of Lostock regarding the widening of De Havilland Way.
I think he misunderstands where the road is to be widened from. The road is to be increased from two to three lanes from Lostock Lane to the roundabout at Parklands only - AWAY from Lostock.
This is being done to help move the volume of traffic towards the motorway, more quickly and to help with the proposed bus parking provision being built at the Parklands development. Hopefully this will help people who use their cars who drive to the development to use the bus - if the bus companies get their act together, of course.
As for another motorway exit, I agree. But it would be impossible to connect to the A6 at the location stated and would be in totally the wrong place.
Also as one of the elected members for Horwich and Blackrod, I would vote against any proposals which would put any more traffic on to Crown Lane which is what it certainly doesn't need.
If a new junction was to be built, depending on Central Government providing the money to build it, then you would have to have more consultation on the proposal. This would probably mean that it wouldn't be built because the Government won't stump up the cash and more than likely it would have to be built on greenbelt land.
