BOLTON Under 13s cricket team have reached the final of the Hacking Cup after beating Bury U13s in the semi-final stage at Unsworth Cricket Club.
This is a tremendous achievement especially as Bolton have been drawn away at Liverpool, Sefton, Blackburn and Bury in every round. The semi-final was a tense affair with Bolton only setting a target of 106 after solid batting performances by Tierney 27 and Booth 22. However the Bolton bowlers put Bury under extreme pressure as Chasty, Hargreaves, Watkinson and Cavill restricted Bury to 35 runs off the first 12 overs. Bury still looked favourites to reach the target with attacking play by Wong 32 and McGann 20 but Bolton managed to take important wickets at crucial stages. Bury needed 14 runs off the final over but ended their innings 11 short on 96-9.
Excellent team performances throughout each round have been rewarded by a place in the Hacking Cup Final at Old Trafford on September 11.
