CHILDREN from eight Bolton and Bury primary schools have been taking part in a weather programme.
Powergen's Changing Climates programme for primary schools uses the weather to teach pupils about energy efficiency and alternative energy sources through their national curriculum work.
Pupils from Chorley New Road School, Horwich, and Mytham Primary School, Little Lever, saw how the programme has been used over the last year through such activities as singing, dancing, ICT and pictures. Visitors at the event, held at Greater Manchester Waste Group, Hurstwood Court, Bolton, included ITV regional weather reporter Jon Mitchell. The Changing Climates programme can be used alongside different subjects, all with the underlying themes of natural energy and the weather.
As part of the programme, Powergen provided each of the participating schools with a resource pack and weather recording equipment. A workshop was also held for participating teachers.
