DO any other readers have the same problem with their local park as we do?
The park, between Bradford Street and Conway Street Farnworth is getting more and more neglected all the time. The tennis courts have no nets. There used to be two play areas for the children now there is one complete one and the other has a lonely swing and damaged tarmacadam.
The shrubs are overgrown, especially onto the footpath along Conway Street. There are no bins for the dog owners to place their respective dog's waste .
However, the council can have commercial services staff going into the bowling green at least once a week. This part of the park is protected and locked up 24/7.
The only time one of the three gates is unlocked is when there is a bowls match, or when one of them is practising, and even then they keep the unlocked gate shut to discourage people from going near their precious bowling green.
I wonder just what percentage of the annual budget for the maintenance and upkeep of our park is actually spent on keeping the bowling green area nice and tidy, at the expense of the rest of the park.
