TWO motorcyclists are in hospital, one with serious injuries, following an accident involving a car in Belmont, near Bolton.
A Yamaha YZFRi was being ridden along Belmont Road towards the Tockholes turn-off at 2.30pm yesterday when it was in collision with a Ford Fiesta turning into a layby.
The rider was thrown from his bike and he hit a second Yamaha YZFRi which was behind him.
The rider, from Accrington, suffered multiple fractures to his legs and arms and was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital.
The second motorcyclist, who was from Haslingden, suffered a dislocated shoulder and was also taken to hospital.
The driver of the car, a man from Manchester, was not injured.
Belmont Road was closed for two-and-a-half hours while accident investigators examined the crash scene.
