Keighley 10 Leigh Centurions 48 by Martyn Hindley: LEIGH Centurions banished the ghost of Rochdale-past to return to winning ways at Cougar Park and maintain their place at the top of the table.
Darren Abram's side arrived in West Yorkshire on the back foot after last week's heavy home defeat was followed by a string of further injuries in the run up to the game.
Dan Potter, Paul Rowley, John Duffy and Simon Knox all missed the trip.
But all doubts about their character and resilience were put to bed inside the first quarter, by which time the visitors had crossed for three tries and led 20-0.
The first came after just 70 seconds when Keighley scrum-half Matt Firth's predictable pass was punished by Danny Halliwell's intercept and 60m dash.
It was the start of Firth's nightmare afternoon, but by contrast the opposite number seven ran the show.
Tommy Martyn hurled an expansive pass to the right flank to send Rob Smyth over, and then produced two excellent grubber kicks for Neil Turley to ground replica scores.
The former St Helens half had also turned on the style to hammer a 40-20 that relieved early pressure from the bottom-placed club, and led to Turley adding two points with a penalty goal.
Keighley pressed the panic button early and despite their try from Max Tomlinson -- given after much deliberation eight minutes before the break -- they were never likely to break Leigh's stranglehold over them.
Damian Munro squeezed over by the left touchline on the stroke of the hooter to boost the lead to 30-6 at the interval.
And although Centurions had to do more defending after the change of ends, only the margin of victory was ever in question.
Turley's side-step and score completed his hat-trick and he was followed over by Munro six minutes later.
And the rout was ended in the same way as it had begun when Martyn intercepted from Simeon Hoyle to canter over beneath the posts.
Turley's kicking boosted his personal tally to 28 points but Leigh's success was muted by a cheekbone injury to Ben Cooper -- sustained after just 50 seconds of the match.
Chris Wainwright landed a last gasp consolation for doomed Keighley, who earlier saw Jason Clegg's effort ruled out for an earlier forward pass.
