IN response to the letter by A K Mistry, Bolton Evening News, August 7.
While we all have fond memories of a pre-1974 Lancashire, the fact is that although we may pretend otherwise, we are in Greater Manchester -- "Lancashire" does nothing for us, as we are not in it any more.
If your house burns, Greater Manchester Fire Brigade comes. Lancashire Constabulary would not come this side of Darwen or Belmont, only our very own GM Police.
Our GMPTE gives pensioners a flat concession fare of 40p. Our friends in Lancashire (just ask anyone in Edgworth or Chorley) pay half fare, and have to show permits to the bus driver.
No, we have done well being attached to Manchester, and I am proud to be from Bolton, Greater Manchester.
It is time to stop looking at what was 30 years ago, and accept where we are today, a thriving borough in the pulsating county of Greater Manchester, and yes, I DO love Bolton.
