A PET dog has escaped from an animal boarding home in Leigh after chewing through the roof of a kennel.
Keaton the Siberian Husky went missing a week ago from Leigh Animal Sanctuary during a thunderstorm.
The light-grey dog, which has bright blue eyes and resembles a wolf, was one of two huskies to escape after chewing through the roof.
It is believed the animals became scared during the thunderstorm and tried to escape.
The second dog, Kilmer, was found just yards away from the East Lancashire Road sanctuary, on the car park of the Greyhound Hotel.
The pair are being cared for at the centre while their owners, a family from Lowton, are away on holiday.
Police in Leigh received a call about the missing dog last week, in which a male caller said he had found Keaton, close to the Greyhound Hotel. The man was told to take the dog to the nearest police station, but he never arrived.
Linda Clements, who runs Leigh Animal Sanctuary, said: "He has been missing now since Tuesday, and his owners are absolutely distraught."
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of the husky is asked to call Mrs Clements on 01942 671215.
