I AGREE with Chris Bateman (Bolton Evening News, Monday, August 9).
Decency in this society is descending rapidly due to yob culture and the people who cannot be bothered to do anything about its decline.
My husband and I had the misfortune to travel home on the last train from Manchester Victoria on Saturday night and it was equivalent to travelling on a cattle train.
It was packed with extremely drunk young people. They behaved worse than animals. They were throwing all manner of food around the train, many of them smoking - paying no attention whatsoever to the no-smoking signs. They paid no respect to any other passengers on the train.
As we alighted the train, we asked the guard why he wouldn't do anything about it, especially the smoking, to which he replied "it wasn't worth upsetting them".
So, never mind that the decent people in society are upset by this appalling behaviour, let's not upset the yob minority (rapidly becoming a majority).
