RECENT scouting pictures on this page prompted a visit to the office from 76-year-old Ted Holden.
Mr Holden, of Bishops Road, Bolton, brought copies of these Bolton Evening News photographs taken in 1944.
At the time he was the 17-year-old patrol leader of the troop based at Tonge Moor Wesleyan Church - a site now occupied by a DIY shop.
Ted remembers that the occasion was the visit of the Chief Scout to either Moss Bank or Queen's Park, Bolton.
The small troop -depleted because of the war - pulled a trek cart laden with tents and equipment from Tonge Moor to the site.
"We were good Scouts, but rough compared with Bolton School - a bigger troop with better equipment," Ted says.
"We were trying to keep the troop going during the war."
