A CLASSICAL concert with a difference is being staged as part of Bolton Festival.

On Friday, August 27, the renowned Locrian Ensemble makes its Bolton debut at the Albert Halls under the musical direction of Justin Pearson.

Their concert - Mozart by Candlelight - features some of the finest classical music presented against an ornate Baroque backdrop. The musicians will be dressed in lavish costumes and the whole scene illuminated by lighting from ornate candelabra.

The programme includes Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, A Musical Joke and the F Major Saltzburg Symphony.

The Locrian Ensemble of London is now firmly established as Britain's busiest Chamber Music Group.

They have played on such film soundtracks as Harry Potter and cut records with Madonna. Television work includes music for Judge John Dee, and the theme music for Newsnight, Stig of the Dump and many others.

Artistic Director Justin Pearson is principal cellist with the National Symphony Orchestra and has worked live and in recording with Andrew Lloyd-Webber for more than 15 years.

He played the solo cello in the film biopic of Oscar Wilde starring Stephen Fry.

He has played with a variety of artists as diverse as Jose Carreras, The Spice Girls and Pavarotti.

Tickets can be bought for £14.50 (£12.50 concessions) by calling 01204 334400. The festival runs from Friday, August 20 until Monday, August 30.
