A WOMAN left to bring up her baby son alone after the death of her partner has spoken of her heartbreak.

Stephanie Lawson said she was picking up the pieces of her life after the death of her partner who was found hanging after the couple had a row.

She denied claims made at an inquest into the death of Kevan Bradley-Schofield that he had hanged himself after she told him that the baby might not be his.

Miss Lawson said yesterday that Mr Bradley-Schofield was the father and had been looking forward to the birth.

Her son Kaine was born one month after the tragedy.

Miss Lawson of Crowland Road, Tonge Moor, said she had a very close relationship with Mr Bradley-Schofield who was found dead after she left the home they shared following a row.

As reported in the Bolton Evening News last night, an inquest held on Tuesday heard that notes found by the body of Mr Schofield, of Tintern Avenue, Tonge Moor, suggested that he intended to take his own life.

Kevan's mother, Wilhelmina Schofield, told the inquest that Miss Lawson had told him that he might not be the father of their child.

Bolton coroner Jennifer Leeming recorded an open verdict and said from the evidence she had heard, the hanging was totally inconsistent with Kevan as a person.

Miss Lawson yesterday said his death had left her heartbroken.

Miss Lawson, said: "I never at any time told Kevan that the baby was not his. We met in March last year and in April I had fallen pregnant.

"We both could not wait for the birth of our son. We were both going to the hospital for scans and check-ups and were planning our life together. We were really close and he used to get on well with my mum."

She added: "Kaine was born just one month after Kevan died. It's just heartbreaking that Kaine will never ever see his dad.

"Kaine's first word was daddy."
