A HEALTH and safety video for nursery staff featuring Bolton TV celebrity and dad-to-be Vernon Kay has been released.
The presenter appeared in many scenes and narrated the film, which provides instruction for new playworkers and nursery staff in Bolton.
Vernon, whose wife Tess Daly is expecting their first baby in October, gave up his time in March to film the video at the Harvey Early Years Centre in Shaw Street, Bolton.
The video, which cost £7,500 to produce, has been sent out to nursery owners and playgroup leaders by Bolton Council's Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership and is already being used.
The council plans to sell the video to other local authorities so nursery staff can be taught all over the country.
London-based Vernon said he was only too happy to take part in the filming.
He said: "It was brilliant to be back up in Bolton to see family and friends. I have always tried my best to be available to help put Bolton on the map and I was delighted to be asked to take part in the video."
Cllr Carole Swarbrick, Bolton Council's Executive Member for Education and Integrated Children's Services, said: "This film is an important training tool for the council's childcare providers, and we were delighted to have such a high-profile celebrity to help us get our message across.
"We hope that everything Vernon learned making the video will stand him in good stead now he's going to be a father himself."
