A MYSTERY photograph which appeared on this page recently has been identified.
Christine Catherall of Eagley Bank, Bolton tells me that she has another copy of the picture which reader Michael McEwing found in his late mother's effects.
The photograph showed a gym class from around 1918-20 at the former Blackburn Road Congregational Sunday School - an imposing red brick building which now houses the Taiyabah Mosque and Islamic Education Centre.
Christine says her mother, Sally Fletcher as she was at the time, is at the back of the picture on the left.
The articles I thought might have been rounders bats were clubs which the girls used in keep fit sessions.
"I have a similar picture of my father in the men's gym," Christine says.
