DESPITE a spirited fightback by Lynx which saw them score four tries in the second half they were unable to pull back a 28 point deficit.
Lynx conceded two tries in the first 15 minutes, both set up by the New Zealand scrum-half Tane Manihera, first from a long pass out for Neil Frazer to collect and run over for the opener from which Manihera converted the first of his eight goals.
A tactical kick from Manihera then set up Jamie Beaumont to charge over from close range.
Jonny Limmer went over on 28 minutes to score Workington's third try and Manihera's penalty soon after made it 20-2 for the home side.
Five minutes before the break Manihera went on a solo run to score.
A further score before half time from David Pettitt effectively ended Lynx's hopes.
Chorley started the second-half brightly, though, and scored two quick tries.
After three minutes Capewell ran from the halfway line and evaded a last ditch tackle from the full-back to make the line. On 51 minutes Lynx winger Steve Ormisher touched down and Capewell converted both tries and a fightback looked on until Workington's Brett Smith forced his way over from short range.
Chorley wouldn't lie down though and they scored a fine try on 64 minutes when Capewell put in a nicely weighted pass for full-back Lee Paterson to go through for a try.
Chorley had the final word when Workington couldn't control the football from a kick over their own line and Chris Ramsdale arrived late to make the touchdown but it was too late to hope for a share of the points. Man of the match was Brian Capewell.
