KENNY Stewart has ensured that Barrie Kaye's five-hour Lord Nelson Angling Club match record of 80lb 6oz lasted just seven days.
Stewart became the first Nelson angler to pass the 100lb barrier at the Sessay Fisheries Poplars Lake in North Yorkshire.
After a barren start, the Swinton angler noticed top water movement and opted to fish pellet just under the surface.
It was non-stop action after that, as big carp went into frenzied feeding mode and Kenny was still catching at the all-out.
It took three weighs to confirm the new record of 100lbs 14oz.
Alan Hayes was well behind, but his 25lb 5oz - caught on worm and caster - was good enough for second place.
Martin Owen fished similar methods and secured third place with 21lb 11oz.
Graham Carter (19lb 8oz), Trevor Bevin (19lb 3oz) and Mick Booth (15lb 13oz) made up the minor placings.
Carp catch sees Davies home
THE young anglers taking part in Bradshaw Hall Fisheries' "Hooked on Fishing not Drugs or Crime" series are still as keen at the halfway point.
Johnathon Davies, aged 15, clinched the over-13s section with carp for 46lb 12oz.
Second was Arron Applegate, aged 16, with 40lb 0oz.
Chris Poulton, aged 13, came third with 30lb 0oz and Oliver Simmons, also 13, was fourth with 23lb 0oz.
In the 12 years and under section, eight-year-old Jake Porter won when his catch weighed in at 14lb 9oz.
Jamie Battersby, aged 11, was second with 9lb 10oz. Carl Davis, aged 12, caught the biggest fish of the day - a 6lb 0oz carp. Added to the rest of his catch, he finished third with 7lb 14oz. Nicky Davis, aged 11, was fourth with 6lb 8oz.
Dobson takes summer match
DAVE Dobson won the latest round of Royal Ashton Angling Club's Summer League.
Fishing quivertip, he took skimmers and bream with red maggot and worm for 20lb 0oz.
Alan Turner was second with 17lb 8oz, and Terry Crosby third with 13lb 0oz.
The minor places went to Mick Hayes (9lb 6oz) and Dave James (8lb 14oz).
