A POLICE search has been taking place after a 14-year-old boy was swept away in a river at Dunham Massey, near Altrincham.

Greater Manchester Police mobilised the force helicopter and plane, along with riverboat patrols on the River Bollin, where the boy fell in.

"He had been with three friends when he got into difficulty and was swept away from them," said a force spokesman. "The three friends are being treated for shock."
