BOLTON-born athlete Paul Freary followed up his win in the Chorley Four-Mile Road Race with a victory in last Wednesday's Haigh Hall Five-Mile Race.
Freary, who runs for Belgrave Harriers, was just ahead of Horwich RMI Harrier Adrian Selby - third in 26m 46s.
His Horwich team-mate Lisa Heyes was the quickest woman, finishing ninth overall in a time of 28m 42s. Gaynor Higson was the first woman home in the over-35 category. Darren Kay continues to put in top-class performances and recently won the four-and-a-half-mile, 1,400ft ascent Whittle Pike Fell Race, the first race in the Rossendale midweek series.
He followed up this terrific effort by winning the second in the series, the six-mile (1,100ft ascent) Pilgrim's Cross Fell Race, last Wednesday.
Marie Holden finished 183rd in the Sydney Striders 10K race in Australia in 56m 15s.
