THE Conservative Party have called for zero tolerance policing in Britain, backed by a major new prison building programme, a tough crackdown on school violence, and action designed to restore the nation's self-respect.

Plans for a radical shake-up in which police forces would be encouraged to challenge every level of crime and disorder - while their burden of targets and red tape would be slashed back.

People would be made to take more responsibility for their actions and at last a pledge to turn back the stifling culture of political correctness and red tape.

This is the only way we can beat the criminal element in our society.

Normal law abiding citizens are sick to death of the minority who seem to stick one finger up at the system. It is not public relations that people want, it is effective policing.

The police need a simple, clear objective - to prevent crime and disorder, and to do this we need the police on the street and to free them of the red tape which bogs them down and which keeps officers chained to their desks.

The system should stand up for the silent, law abiding majority who play by the rules and pay their dues, their rights should be put first, not the perpetrators of the crime.
