WANDERERS
4-3-3
JUSSI JAASKELAINEN ... 6
One or two untidy moments but made some good interceptions and his first half save from Lisbie was vital.
NICKY HUNT ... 6
Survived a first half slip when Wanderers might have been punished by a better side; otherwise steady
BRUNO N'GOTTY ... 8
Straight back into the old routine with an imperious display at the heart of a defence that was rarely troubled.
JULIO CESAR ... 8
A highly promising debut with some classy, highly-effective defending in keeping with his impressive pedigree.
RICARDO GARDNER ... 7
Energetic and positive, always looking to support his forward players but with the legs to get back when needed.
JAY-JAY OKOCHA ... 9
Exhilarating stuff from the captain! Inspirational and entertaining, not only with his double strike but in everything he did.
IVAN CAMPO ... 8
Did just what Campo does best, pulling the strings in midfield with an economy of effort and a wealth of efficiency.
GARY SPEED ... 9
Picked up where he left off for Newcastle with an impressively dynamic performance that bodes well for the season.
KEVIN NOLAN ... 7
No goals from last season's top scorer but a big enough contribution nevertheless.
KEVIN DAVIES ... 7
Led the line in his own indomitable fashion. Gave Fish a hard time.
HENRIK PEDERSEN ... 8
Thoroughly deserved his first-day double; El-Hadji Diouf is on his way but the dashing Dane will take some shifting.
Subs: Stelios for Nolan 77 mins, Les Ferdinand for Davies 77 mins, Tal Ben Haim for Hunt 85 mins. Not used: Anthony Barness, Kevin Poole.

MAN OF THE MATCH
JAY-JAY OKOCHA
WHAT a way to celebrate a birthday! After going an entire campaign without a Premiership goal, the skipper takes just 10 minutes to open this season's account with a stunning free kick. A second goal for good measure, plus a sublime assist and some fancy footwork .
MAGIC MOMENT
HIS free-kick against Aston Villa in the Carling Cup semi-final may never be bettered ... but Okocha was close to matching it with his 10th minute strike. Konchesky tried his best to line up the wall but he was wasting his time -- the power and accuracy of Jay-Jay's right-footer gave Kiely no chance.
MOAN OF THE MATCH
ADDICKS boss Alan Curbishley pulled no punches in his assessment of his team's performance. "That was a shadow of any Charlton team we've ever put out," he said. "Physically we were second best, mentally we were second best and on ability we were second best."
