A WARNING about about summer swimming has been made by the police officer who led the search for a teenage boy found drowned.

Chief Insp Nick Phillips coordinated the search in the River Bollin, Greater Manchester, for Adam Charlotte, 15, who was found on Sunday.

"If anything positive is to come out of this tragic incident then I hope people heed the advice to stay out of canals, reservoirs and rivers," he said.

Ch Insp Phillips said apparently "safe water" may be very dangerous.

He said it can be tempting to cool off in warm temperatures, but added: "They may look safe but they are often deeper than you think with strong currents."

Adam, from Partington, was found a mile from he was swept away by the fast-flowing river near Dunham Massey on Thursday.
