PARENTS in Bolton are being reminded that student children going to university or college must have a licence if they take a television with them from home.
TV Licensing said students would not be covered by the licence at their parents' address.
Spokesman Nicky Barrett said: "Our database lists addresses that don't have a TV Licence, including university accommodation, and we do visit unlicensed properties.
"Any student using equipment without a valid television licence risks prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000."
Anyone wanting a licence should call 0870 242 1417 or visit www.tvlicensing.
