A PENSIONER was threatened with a garden fork by a burglar who broke into her home as she slept.
The 64-year-old victim was woken by the intruder as he searched through her bungalow in Fairoak Court, Deane, at 2am. The woman went to investigate and was confronted by a man armed with the garden tool. He threatened her with the garden fork, demanding cash.
The terrified woman managed to run out of her bungalow and on to the street, where she screamed for help. Neighbours called the police. A 33-year-old man from Bolton was arrested nearby in connection with the incident. He was held in custody after his arrest and was due to be questioned later today by detectives.
The woman was not injured but was shaken.
