A FAMILY firm of Radcliffe-based chartered accountants has something to celebrate.
David Gorton, of Gortons, has qualified as a chartered tax adviser - Britain's premier tax qualification. An accounting and corporate finance partner with the company, in Blackburn Street, the Bolton man was previously part of the PricewaterhouseCoopers team.
In January, David joined his brother Jim to develop corporate finance and due diligence services within the family firm, which specialises in services to owner-managed businesses going through change.
He was previously part of the PricewaterhouseCoopers team, providing due diligence and financial reporting services to many North-west quoted companies.
His clients included the Big Food Group, Matalan, SurfControl, Renold and Scapa.
He brings vast experience of working with these companies and their advisers to owner-managed businesses throughout the Manchester area.
Gortons was set up by Jim Gorton in 2002, effectively re-establishing the firm founded by his and David's father, John, in the early 1960s.
In 2000, the firm left its base at Stanmore house, Radcliffe, when it merged with a similar company in Heap Bridge, Bury.
But two years later, Jim officially "retired" and re-launched Gortons from its previous headquarters.
Today, the thriving chartered accountants has a 16-strong staff and exciting growth prospects.
David's wife and sister are both chartered accountants too.
