RESIDENTS are being warned to be vigilant after a Bolton woman claimed she was conned by rogue builders.
The pensioner, who did not want to be named, said two men called at her house in Firwood Grove, Tonge Moor, last Friday, and offered to carry out work on her gutters. She claims they were very persistent and she eventually agreed to let them do the repairs, for which she paid several hundred pounds.
She says it was only later that she realised she was not happy with the work. The pensioner has reported the matter to the police and to Bolton Trading Standards.
She said: "I would like to warn people to be careful before agreeing to work being carried out by someone who just calls at your door."
