FRIDAY the 13th turned into a lucky day for Wellington XI when they won the Pike Shield beating Kearsley CC by 25 runs.

It was a different story at half time when Kearsley led the game by 11 runs, but Wellington turned the game around with their second bat to score 91 runs and then dismissed Kearsley for just 55 to take the match 141-116. Lisa Hamer (20), Nicola Durrant (19), Terry Davenport (17), Becki Adamson (11) and Naomi Lee (11) topped the scores for the Wellington.

Darcy Lever CC A once again altered the positions in Section A when they beat last week's joint leaders Little Lever XI 138-83, to leave the teams joint second behind Rupert Ladies A, who got back into winning form with their defeat of Nationwide XI.

With only three games to go Section C is very close, with Adlington CC, BRUFC and Little Lever CC A sharing top spot with 20 points each.

Church Hotel Ladies in Section B took their first points of the season in a win against Parceline, Lee Anne Tudge (26) and Fiona Duncan (27) topped the scores for the Church.

Bolton Motor Bodies continue to storm ahead in Section F, and are the only team in the league to remain unbeaten.

Jackson Van Hire put themselves at the top of Section J with a convincing innings win against Bradshaw Cons Club.

Hough Fold Ladies took on two Little Lever teams this week and beat them both, Keeley Jolly (22) was their top scorer when the team defeated Little Lever FC 124-72. The following evening they won against Little Lever CC B 164(D)-132, Jane Holt (35), Alex Holt (21), D Fearnhead (21), K Jolly (21) and Mandy Williams (20) were Hough Fold's top scorers.

St Teresas met top of Section L Bolton Castle, Zoe Anderton (45), Fran Killey (41) and Barbara Thompson (37) being the highest scorers in a match that Teresas won 257-170.

The Blackburn Shield Final takes place on Friday, August 20, at Little Lever CC, between K2 Ladies and The Bowling Green, starting at 6.45pm.

The 2004 Bolton inter-district rounders competition will take place at Leverhulme Park on Sunday, August 22, during the Bolton Show.

The winning team will be presented with the Doreen Davies Inter-district Cup, presented to the Bolton Sports Federation Rounders League by her family in memory of Doreen, who successfully organised the tournament for many years.

There will be eight teams, representing most of the districts of Bolton, as follows: Farnworth & Kearsley; Deane & Central; Harwood, Breightmet & Tonge; Bromley Cross; Astley Bridge; Little Lever & Darcy Lever; Halliwell & Smithills; and finally Westhoughton, Blackrod & Horwich.

The players for these teams are from all sections of the League

The Competition begins at 11am and will run most of the day. The semi finals should begin at 3pm with the final taking place at 3.30pm.
