THE so-called exciting plans for a revamp of Bolton Market Hall calls to mind an equally exciting proposal several years ago, and well publicised at the time in the Bolton Evening News, for a larger development bordered roughly by Deansgate, Knowsley Street and Bark Street.
If these plans are still ongoing, there will be more than enough shopping capacity to suit everyone's requirements.
If, on the other hand, the plans have quietly died, then that area should be reviewed again for development.
Either way, there is no need for the Market Hall, which is the heart of the town, to be scrapped in favour of yet more characterless shops.
The present traders are individuals, who each provide a unique service to customers, and it would be to everyone's loss if they were moved.
