HEAVY overnight mist caused treacherous driving conditions in Bolton early Saturday with visibility in some areas of the town reduced to less than 15 yards.
Police reported a spate of minor accidents before 7am but there are thought to be no serious injuries.
At 6.50am, two cars collided in Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge. The Fiesta Zetec and Fiat Punto crashed, leaving the Punto facing the wrong way. The incident left both drivers shaken, but not injured.
In the town centre, a car crashed into a road island in Bradshawgate, at 7.15am. The driver of the Renault Laguna drove on after the incident, which damaged the front of the car.
Warning signs were displayed on the region's motorways after the mist started to descend at around 4am. Traffic was asked to slow down, which led to queues on the M61 and M62 during the morning.
