JUSSI Jaakelainen will have more competition for his number one spot if Sam Allardyce gets his way.
The Wanderers boss is concerned that he is short-handed in the goalkeeping department, and is determined to do something about it before the transfer window closes.
Jaaskelainen - one of the best keepers in the land - has been ever-present for two seasons.
During that time, Kevin Poole - the oldest registered player in the Premiership at 41 - has been happy to play the understudy.
Allardyce is not saying where any new recruit would fit into the pecking order, but he knows relying on just two men for such a key position is a risky business.
"I'd like a third goalie," he said. "Not a third choice or a second choice ... but I can hardly see it being a first choice because it would cost too much.
"The trouble is that it's the hardest position to fill after a goalscorer. That's always been the case.
"I remember when I first came into the game in 1969 hearing coaches saying how hard it was to find goalkeepers. Nothing has changed."
