AMIR Khan is just one victory away from a guaranteed bronze medal after another stunning display in Athens.

And the Bolton boxer's dreams of success were given a huge boost when Mick Jelley, his personal trainer, was finally received accreditation to help the Heaton lightweight prepare for his fights.

Bury Boxing Club's coach, who has nurtured Amir for the past five years, was angry that he had been left out in the cold when a limited number of passes meant only Great Britain coach Terry Edwards would have access to Amir.

But with officials easing the ruling, Jelly can now help his 17-year-old charge prepare for his fight -- a move the coach believes made a huge diffrence yesterday when Amir destroyed European champion Dimitar Stilianov from Bulgaria.

"The fact I was there made him a lot more relaxed," said Jelley. "He destroyed his opponent with a brilliant display and I am very confident he can win a medal."

Khan clinched his place in the quarter-finals with a massive 37-21 points win. He made a positive start and took the fight to his experienced opponent and held a narrow 8-7 advantage at the first bell.

He turned on the style in the second round and nailed his opponent with some brilliant combinations. Amir dominated the next two rounds to open up a seven-point lead going into the last. Stilianov had no answer to the speed and movement of the world junior champion and Khan caught him with a number of hurtful shots to secure a deserved victory.

He now fights South Korean Jong Sub Baik, on Tuesday, at around 6.30pm, with a guaranteed bronze medal the prize if he wins.
