Horwich RMI Harriers Steve Jackson and nephew Rob Jackson recorded great performances in recent races.
Steve finished first O/50 in the tough Borrowdale Fell Race. The 17 mile, 6,500ft of climbing event was part of the British and English Fell Championships, and with one event left in each of the six race championships Steve has already done enough to win the O/50 title in both. This is a tremendous achievement for Steve, who has in the past also won the double as an O/40.
Meanwhile nephew Rob continues to run well finishing second in the Radcliffe 6.5 mile Trail Race and last Sunday, three days later, he finished an excellent third in the Blackburn 10K Road Race.
Meanwhile Horwich's Karen Hutchinson also ran well to finish first O/35, and she now leads the Challenge having completed seven races so far.
The recent weather has proved a challenge in itself, and severe flooding meant the unavoidable late cancellation of last Wednesday's Horwich RMI Harriers Jubilee Road Race. The organisers apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. As a result the series of four races was cut to three, the results of which will be in next Saturday's Bolton Evening News.
