THE former Bolton District General Hospital site - now the Royal Bolton - was part of the fabric of the town for generations.
These pictures show it in three decades - 1940s, 1950s and 1970s.
In January, 1970, a team of volunteers was helping out on children's ward B1.
The new midwifery operating theatre in the maternity department at BDGH was part of the hospital's modernisation scheme in February, 1956.
And in September, 1949, the hospital was proudly displaying its bowling green, stone surround, ornamental entrances and garden.
The site had been transformed from rough ground by patients of Townleys Annex as part of their occupational therapy treatment.
