MANY parts of the North West are on flood alert after heavy rainfall throughout Sunday night.
Fifteen areas affected include the River Douglas in Wigan, where two eight-year-old boys were rescued after they became stuck in floods on Saturday.
The Rivers Irwell in Salford, the Mersey in Stockport and the Ribble catchment areas are all affected.
The Environment Agency says up to 30mm of rain is forecast to fall in the region on Monday morning.
Parents are being warned not to let their children play in rivers, after heavy rain caused flooding around the North West last week.
Greater Manchester Fire Service also received numerous calls from people affected by floods in the Offerton and Davenport areas of Stockport.
People living in Galgate in north Lancashire and at Bolton-by-Bowland in the Ribble Valley were mopping up after water flooded into their homes.
