DEMOLITION men were busy at work on Sunday when wickets tumbled and Westhoughton took a grip on the championship.
But the title race is far from over with Westhoughton 19 points ahead of Greenmount, who slipped into second place, after champions Walkden had a miserable weekend.
Twenty four hours after a winning draw against Astley Bridge, Westhoughton made light work of beating Bradshaw by eight wickets. Bradshaw were all out for just 82 as Antonio Mayers grabbed 5-28 and Paul Hart 4-40.
Greenmount, who drew with Eagley on Saturday, scraped to a one-wicket win over Little Lever, who were dismissed for 108 with the ever-dangerous Mark Stewart taking 7-40. In reply, Greenmount battled home despite Adnan taking 6-15.
Walkden came unstuck at Kearsley 24 hours after drawing with Egerton.
Kearsley bowled them out for a paltry 93, with Mike Bennison contributing 38. New West Indian pro Sherwin Ganga took 4-46 and David Mather 4-18. In reply, Kearsley were struggling at 16-3 before Ganga and Chris Monks saw them home.
There was an exciting clash at Egerton where Grant Long was out on the last ball trying to hit a six to win the match.
Egerton made 175-9 with Chris Tye hitting 38. In reply, Horwich ended on 171-5 with David White not out on 66, and Long 46. The pair had put on 95 for the fourth wicket.
Egerton's Bolton League bowler Ian Taylor was left redundant as he was not called on to turn his arm for the first time in his career.
There was a very low-scoring affair at Bradshaw where the home team were all out for 77, with Imran Patel grabbing 5-33 and Dalagoda 4-30. Astley Bridge could not handle the Barrow brothers, however, and were all out for 56 with Tim taking 5-30 and Chris 4-19.
Tonge notched up their second win of the weekend with a 120-run win over Eagley. Safwaaan Ismail hit 60 as Tonge made 183 and then bowled Eagley out for 63 with Simon Anderton taking 6-24.
