FIREFIGHTERS were up to their necks in water on Saturday - to raise money for charity.
Hundreds of children enjoyed the fun at Great Moor Street fire station and were met by world record holder Mike Newman, who broke the landspeed record for a blind man, also greeted visitors.
Fire engines, a hydraulic platform and the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team ensured there was lots to see for children.
About 300 visitors enjoyed tombola and raffles stalls, and tried their hand at a portable bowling alley, provided by Hollywood Bowl in Horwich.
The event raised £600, which will be split between the 20/20 Vision charity and the Firefighters' Benevolent Fund.
People also pledged to sponsor a walk next week to boost funds.
A team of firefighters will add to the total amount of money raised when Bolton's Bluewatch will join a team from Barclay's Bank in Leigh and Wigan to climb 24 miles up England's highest peak, Scarfell, in Wales on Friday.
