BOLTON'S Miles Edgington eased his way into the second round of the Lancashire Tennis Championships at the Bolton Arena without playing a shot.
On the opening day his opponent Malik Ali pulled out of the event to give Edgington the prospect of a tough second round match against Steven Brewer.
But it was not so good news for brother Graham who found himself on the end of some exciting tennis going down 6-0 6-0 to Leigh youngster Tom Johnson.
Another local player Stuart Cartwright was an easy winner over Lancaster's Mike Braithwaite who had no answer to Cartwright's more powerful all round game. And there was more good news for another Boltonian, Jamie Whittle, who battled hard to beat Merseysider Tim Lui in the boys' singles 6-4 6-4.
Holder of the title, Bolton's Simon Roberts, will play on Wednesday, when he takes on the winner of the family match between Roger Ingham and his son Mike Ingham.
