I WOULD like to comment about the story "Gangs stone train at Hall i'th' Wood Station" (Monday, August 16).
This is not an isolated case of vandalism affecting just the railway. It has been going on for years. The houses in Hall i'th' Wood Lane, The Close, Valpy Avenue and Pimlott Road have all suffered, in some cases with hundreds of pounds worth of damage to walls, cars and windows.
Over the past six years, I have written to the rail authorities and the railway police. I suggested that they erect a higher mesh fence at both sides of the station to give residents peace of mind.
These incidents start first thing in the morning with children waiting for a train. This behaviour involving homes and trains can only mean an accident waiting to happen.
