BOLTON Choral Union's new season programme has treats in store for both its singers and audiences.

And the Union's aim is to continue to enhance the long tradition of choral singing in the area with polished performances from dedicated performers.

On November 13 there is a concert in the Victoria Hall of works by Vivaldi and Handel.

The full professional Camerata Concert Orchestra and two well known local soloists - Nicola Mills and Jennifer Westwood - will be performing.

Popular works have been chosen. These include the Vivaldi Credo and Handel's Zadok the Priest. The orchestra will play Albinoni's Adagio.

On December 4 - for the first time for some years - Handel's Messiah will be performed at the Victoria Hall. Again the Camerata will be playing. Soloists for this concert will be announced later.

The hugely popular Family Carol Concert will, as usual, be at the Victoria Hall. This year it's on December 18.

The spring concert - Mendelsshon's Elijah - is another highlight. Again the Camerata and soloists - who are yet to be announced - will be on stage.

Michael Greenhalgh is the Musical Director of the Union and Dougie Butters the rehearsal pianist.

The Union rehearses every Friday at St Andrew and St George United Reformed Church, St George's Street, Bolton. at 7.30 pm.
