FORMER Bolton cricketer Dennis Haslam has died, aged 72.
Haslam was well-known on the town's cricketing scene, having played in the Bolton League for Bradshaw and Tonge, and in the Association for Farnworth Social Circle and Little Hulton -- both as club professional -- as well as for Edgworth.
A keen sportsman, Haslam also played for Bristol Rovers in his youth, and was a keen amateur player in Bolton.
He spent many years as a steward at Tonge Cricket Club in his later life and also enjoyed watching Lancashire at Old Trafford from his favourite seat in the pavilion.
In recent years he also travelled abroad to watch England, in the West Indies and Sri Lanka.
The funeral takes place at St Maxentius Church, Bradshaw, on Thursday at 10.15am followed by private committal at Overdale. Family flowers only, donations to Bolton Hospice.
