A TEENAGER is improving in hospital following a road accident in which her best friend was killed.
Leanne Keegan, aged 13, of Aster Avenue, Farnworth, suffered serious head injuries in the collision more than two weeks ago.
She has been transferred from the intensive care unit to the high dependency unit at the Royal Manchester's Children's Hospital, Pendlebury where her condition is now said to be stable. Her parents are keeping a bedside vigil.
Her best friend Carla Bate, also aged 13, of Primrose Avenue, Farnworth, died at the scene of the accident, in Farnworth, on Sunday August 8.
Steven Lewis, aged 35, of Westland Avenue, Farnworth, appeared in court last Thursday charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
