A 24-YEAR-OLD man suffered serious head injuries following a fight outside a pub in Leigh.
He became involved in a row with another man outside the Chambers pub in Railway Road on Thursday at around 1.15am.
Both men are believed to have spent the evening drinking in the bar. They were taken to hospital.
A 21-year-old man was discharged a short time later and was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.
He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
The 24-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Detective Constable Paulo Dale from Leigh CID said: "There were a number of people around on the street at the time of the altercation and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us."
