A SCHEME to slow traffic on one of Bolton's most notorious rat-runs has been given the go-ahead.
Motorists who use Tempest Road, Lostock, as a high-speed short-cut, will find themselves facing 20 speed humps on the road and the speed limit slashed to 20 mph.
Councillors backed the scheme after residents complained of heavy traffic and a risk to pedestrians from speeding cars.
A 160-name petition signed by residents was given to highways bosses earlier this year.
Work could start later this year and will also include a 20 mph limit on surrounding residential roads.
The route is used as a short-cut for people travelling between Westhoughton and Chorley New Road.
