CHORLEY'S town centre CCTV system helped catch two yobs brandishing ball-bearing guns.
The 15-year-old boys were spotted walking through the town firing the weapons.
Town centre radio link ups and CCTV were able to track the offenders along several streets before they were arrested by police officers.
The pair were arrested for having an imitation firearm and held at Chorley police station before being cautioned and released at 7.30pm on Saturday, August 21.
PC Richard Booth said: "This proves that the CCTV system is a great weapon in crime prevention.
"We were able to keep a watchful eye on the boys until an officer could get to them."
Three more cameras have this week been added to the CCTV system, which is financed by Chorley Borough Council and monitored from Chorley police station. The new cameras are in Astley Village centre, Weldbank Lane and Harpers Lane.
