A MAN is due to appear in court on Tuesday charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Little Hulton.
Thomas Edward Bevan, aged 55, of Jonquil Drive, Little Hulton, is appearing before magistrates in Salford after Jacqueline Probert died from stab wounds on Saturday night.
He has also been charged with wounding.
Flowers had been placed outside the house in Jonquil Drive, a quiet suburb in Little Hulton.
Police were called to the house shortly after 9pm on Saturday night.
They found Mrs Probert, aged 53, who worked at Asda, in Brackley Street, Farnworth, with multiple stab wounds to the neck. She was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital where she later died. A 49-year-old woman from Little Hulton suffered a wound to her head and received treatment at the Royal Bolton Hospital. A third woman, aged 38, also from Little Hulton, suffered cuts to her hand but did not need hospital treatment.
Mrs Probert, a grandmother, who has two grown up children, was married to Bernard. He has not been back to the house since she died.
A neighbour said: "Everyone is so shocked that this has happened on our doorstep. Jacqui was such a quiet, pleasant person. I just can't believe she's gone."
