A WEEKEND bus service for walkers in the Lake District is being extended.
The Kirkstone Rambler 517 service from Bowness-on Windermere to Glenridding via Windermere, Kirkstone Pass and Patterdale, stopped as the summer holidays come to an end in previous years.
But this year, with the support of extra funding from the Lake District National Park Authority, it is being extended to run on Saturdays and Sundays throughout September and October.
The service will be operated by Stagecoach and there will be three departures in each direction leaving each day.
