I WAS interested to see on your website the piece from Syd Slater of Avon Drive, Bolton.
He was involved in the mine clearing of Caen Docks and other places shortly after the D-Day landings.
My father was also in the Royal Engineers, in 25 BD Company involved in the same work. He unfortunately lost his life while involved in this work and I have not been able to trace any of his colleagues to date. It's a long shot, but perhaps Syd may have known him?
